How To Track Website Visitors Using Google Analytics

f you own or run any kind of website online then you must realise the importance of tracking your website visitors. It doesn’t matter what kind of website you own, whether it be a full online e-commerce store, or even just a small information website – how people find your website and what they do when they get there could mean the difference between success and failure.

There are many ways to track your website visitors, but one of the most popular ways is to install Google Analytics to your website. As the name suggests “Google Analytics” is a completely free web service offered by Google to help you track visitors to your website,. It will show you exactly how they got there, what pages they visit , and even how long they spend on your website. Knowing this information can help you improve your website, attract more visitors and ultimately earn more money.

Now that you know how Google Analytics can benefit you – Here is how you can install it to your website.

The first step is to sign up for a Google Analytics account here:

You can then click on the big orange button that syas “Create An Account”. You will then be asked to either login to your Gmail account if you have one or create a new one. When you have done that you will need to enter your account name, and the URL of the website you would like to track. You will then be given a tracking code that looks like this:

As you can see from this image – you are being asked to copy and paste this code onto every page of your website that you would like to track. If you own a large website this would take some time. However, if you have purchased one of our websites then you can add this code by following these simple steps.

1. Login to your blogs dashboard.
2. Click on “Editor” undernaeath “Appearance” from the menu on your left.
3. Locate and click on the “Footer.php” file on your right.
4. Scroll down the box untill you find the </body> tag near the bottom.
5. The paste your code directly above the </body> tag, and click on “Update file”.

Then when you go back to your Google Analytics page click on “Save”, and you can begin tracking your website visitors and increasing your conversions.
